As reported on the Catholic News Service, the Vatican and the Ecumenical Patriarchate will be involved in the new Islamic funded interfaith center at the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Internation Center.
As reported by the site:
“Cardinal Tauran joined U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople and other dignitaries in Vienna for the inauguration of the center, which is named for and financed by the king of Saudi Arabia.”
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has been prominent in giving his blessings to Islamic fasts and teachings (for example, when he presented a copy of the anti-Orthodox Qu’ran to the head of the Coca-Cola company, saying, “This is the Holy Qu’ran, the holy book of our Muslim brothers and sisters.”) Patriarch Bartholomew (Archontonis) has traditionally expressed trans-religious views and the supposed teaching of tolerance (all the while being anything but tolerant of those who criticized his views, even employing deadly violence against monks on Mt. Athos who criticize him).
