Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Vienna Participates in Roman Catholic Eucharistic Congress

June 10-17th (Posted July 14th, 2012)
Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), the fame ecumenical activist in the Moscow Patriarchate, recently participated in the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, Ireland, from June 10-17th.  He gave the homily at the Roman Catholic liturgy at the services.  Met. Hilarion is well known for his ecumenical activities, especially in the Elijah Interfaith Institute (a trans-religious syncretist organization).

The IEC website states:

Most Rev Michael Jackson, Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin will celebrate a Liturgy of Word and Water. Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev of the Russian Orthodox Church will preach the homily. Brother Alois Löser, Prior of Taizé, will give a catechesis on Baptism.

The “Church of Ireland” is Anglican, not Catholic. I guess this service was ‘for the non-Catholics’ at the congress?
