Metropolitan Agafangel (ROCOR-A): Nativity Epistle

Dear Archpastors and Pastors, Monastics and Laypeople!

As in previous years, the Lord has revealed His kindness and allowed us sinners to once again glory in His miraculous incarnate Nativity! Every year He presents to the fallen world an image unparalleled in its purity, with which the Feast is imbued. The Nativity of Christ is a miraculous image that makes children of us all – the good and the bad, the rich and the poor, even the very elderly and stubborn atheists – us all! Those who remember the Nativity Feasts of their childhood treasure that memory all their lives. It is very important for us to preserve the child in all of us. It is Important Because the Lord Himself said, ” Truly I tell you, unless you Change and Become Like Little Children, you Will Never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. “(Matthew 18:3) At one time, the Lord Brought to us in this world pure and without sin and we are obligated to remember it as an invaluable gift from God. To remember that we were once simple and innocent and to remember that the Lord Himself calls upon us to return to our original state.

Having entered this world, each person as he matures partakes of the sin and troubles of this world. Not one of us can avoid that. Contemporary society is especially adept at corrupting human souls, as its main traits of unbelief and apathy lead to the overall falling away from God. If nations in the past, even those who were nominally Christian, established moral values based on the righteous of the Gospel and in this way served to “restrain” their people, now the nations themselves are of this world and are suffused with lethal globalism, which offers to replace Christ with another ideal – humanism – that is, a human being who is corrupt and thirsts for enjoyment, and behind whom hides the eternal enemy of mankind – the Devil. The fall into the depths of sin and deviancy is quite precipitous in today’s age! What good can society give to one coming into this world? There is very little that is good anymore, as faith has become depleted on earth. Just the opposite, wickedness and unbelief are the main destructive temptations of this world. That which is occurring around us now indicates the unavoidable coming of the Last Judgment.

The Nativity of Christ and the Last Judgment Would seem to be Opposites and in Contrast to each Other, but We know That Christ is present in both, ” I am the Alpha and the Omega, “says the Lord God,” Who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. “(Revelations 1:8) The Lord sent us into this world. It is He who will meet us as we leave it.

Let us strive to live in such a way as to reject the evil gifts of today’s society so that we may stand before Christ the way He brought us here, preserving throughout our whole lives the invaluable gifts He gave us – the simplicity and purity of childhood . Has as the Lord said, ” Let the Little Children Come to me, and do not Hinder Them, for the Kingdom of Heaven Belongs to These as such. “(Matthew fourteen past seven p.m.)

Eternal and salvific are the words of our Lord and may they stay in our hearts!

I congratulate everyone with the Feast of the Nativity of Christ and wish us all to receive the purity and glory of this bright Feast!
