(Interfax) – The Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church- Moscow Patriarchate decided to defer the question of the future of Bishop Diomid of Chukotka to Friday, who in the past year and a half has made a number of appeals, calling for the isolation of Russian Orthodox Church.

On the first day of the Council, the Chukotka Bishop’s supporters held several rallies and a religious procession in his support of the Temple of Christ the Savior.

One the eve of the working groups of the forum theological opinions were heard on the applications and letters of the Chukotka bishop, presented by Metropolitan Philaret of Minsk and Slutsk.

On Wednesday, the Secretary of the Council working group which considered the “Diomidite” issue, Bishop Mark (Egorevsky), reported that the cathedral group members “expressed the unanimous condemnation of Bishop Diomid’s action.”

The Bishop of Chukotka did not appear at the Bishops’ Council, citing illness. However, the Moscow Patriarchate was been satisfied with his explanation of absence, calling it unjustified. (Translation: NFTU)
