Australia: Visit of Bishop Ambrose of Methone (SiR)

(Protodeacon Basil Yakimov) His Grace Bishop Ambrose of Methone arrived on a pastoral (The Synod of Resistance) visit on Saturday (7/11/09) to Melbourne.  On Sunday (8/11/09) he served at the Greek Church Dormition of the Theotokos with the Rector: V. Rev.Father Stylianos Papadopoulos & protodeacon Basil from Canberra in attendance.  Attending the HIERARCHICAL service were many parishioners from Yarraville and at the Liturgy the Bishop tonsured two readers for the Church. His Grace Bishop Ambrose  (with the above mentioned clergy visited the Serbian (Приход в честь св. царя Стефана Дечанского.  Saint King Stefan of Dechanski) Church in Dandenong) and attended Matins where Father Hegumen John (Smelic) is currently the Rector.

 On Monday he served the liturgy with Father Stylianos and protodeacon Basil being in attendance. Attached is a photo taken after the Liturgy in the Church at Yarraville (Приход свв. Мучеников Виленских ) – in the photo also present is nun Seraphima and Reader Simon, the latter was a server in the Holy Altar at the Liturgy.

(See attached file: D3H_2985.JPG) Everywhere Vladyka was warmly welcomed by the people from many nationalities in the different parishes, where Vladyka also gave appropriate sermons (and words of encouragement).

Vladyka Ambrose will also make a pastoral visit to the Greek parish of Holy Unmercenaries in Sydney and visit New Zealand during the week.   On Sunday 15/11/09 he will serve the Liturgy at the St George’s Serbian Church in Canberra (Канберра. Приход в честь св. Георгия) with the Rector: V. Rev. Father Dragan Saracevic (nephew of blessed ROCA Bishop Sava of Edmonton) & protodeacon Basil from Canberra in attendance.
