Russians Trust Patriarch Kirill The Most – poll
So, who are the people Patriarch Kirill beat out to become the most trusted and respected person in Russia today ? Well, lets see.
2nd place went to Vladimir Posner who was a Russian-Jewish emigre to the U.S.A.who spied for Soviet intelligence during WWII while being employed by the U.S. government. The Pozner family fled Soviet Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution and Pozner became a Communist sympathizer while living in Europe He was chief engineer of the European branch of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in Paris in 1938. In 1943 he headed the Russian Section of the film department of the U.S. War Dept. Pozner was a frequent contact of Louise Bransten, who was “a wealthy San Francisco Communist. Vladimir Pozner’s cover name as identified in the Verona project by NSA/FBI analysts is “Plato”. The Posner family moved to East Berlin and later to Moscow in the early 1950’s. His son, Vladimir Vladimirovich Pozner, spoke internationally on behalf of Soviet agencies, and, after the collapse of the soviet Union, came to be treated in the U.S. as an independent journalist.
3rd place is shared by Nikita Mikhalkov, a Soviet and Russian filmmaker, actor and head of the Russian Cinematographers’ Union. His father, Sergei, is probably best known as the writer of the lyrics to his country’s national anthem on three different occasions spanning nearly 60 years—two different sets of lyrics used for the Soviet version and also the current lyrics of the Russian national anthem. Nikita has described himself as a monarchist and has been a strong supporter of Russian president Vladimir Putin also producing a television program for Putin’s 55th birthday, and co-signing an open letter asking Putin not to step down after the expiry of his term in office.
Leonil Roshal, among other achievements, negotiated with Chechen terrorists during the Moscow theater hostage crisis and

as a negotiator during the Beslan school hostage crisis. A member of the Presidential Commission on Human Rights and the Public Chamber of Russia, created by Putin after the Beslan crisis. In Feb.2006 he criticized the Mothers of Beslan for “judging the state rather than the terrorists” at a trial of one of the Beslan hostage takers.
Leonid Parfenov, news anchor, journalist and author of popular Russian T.V.shows. He was past editor of the Russian version of Newsweek and winner of the TEFI award

Tina Kandelaki, Georgian born TV hostess of Russia’s STS station and public activist. Kandelaki has been critical of the Georgian government especially with respect to it’s relations with Russia.
Congratulations to Kirill. I was leaning towards Vladimir, but he’s dead. Was there really any other choice ?

Moscow, 17 June 2010, Interfax – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia heads the rating of people most trusted in Russia made up by the Synovate international research company.
The majority of participants in the poll held in various regions of Russia chose the Patriarch when answering the question “Whom do you respect more?” the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily reported on Thursday.
The second place in the rating was given to observer Vladimir Pozner, while the third one was shared by film director Nikita Mikhalkov, pediatrician Leonid Roshal and anchors Leonid Parfenov and Tina Kandelaki.
