(Interfax-Religion) Patriarch Kirill thanks Catholics for their support in opening Orthodox seminary in France

Moscow, December 4, Interfax – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia thanked Catholic bishops for their support in opening a Russian Orthodox seminary in France.

“The seminary will not only help bring up clerics for our parishes abroad, but also give Russian parishes people who know cultural life of Western Europe and modern theology of the Catholic Church,” the Patriarch said at his meeting with Archbishop of Bordeaux Jean-Pierre Cardinal Ricard, Bishop Benoit Riviere of Autun and Auxiliary Bishop of Bordeaux Jacques Blaquart held in Moscow on Thursday evening.

The Patriarch believes Russia and France have very special relations, in particular thanks to Russian immigrants and today there appear new opportunities for developing bilateral contacts.

The Patriarch, as cited by his press service, pointed out to the growing number of Russians currently residing in Western Europe.
