As announced in a previous message on behalf of the Ecclesiastical Council of 27 July (July 14 st. St.) In 2014, between the Old Calendar Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Church of the True Orthodox Christians in Greece are held talks on the establishment of full ecclesial communion. During the talks, the Greek side was addressed, in order to be recognized prestige and dignity of the Bulgarian Orthodox Old Calendar Church as a self-governing Church, it is desirable to be formed its Synod chaired by His Grace Bishop Photios using the prelates of churches -sestri to be included in the composition of the Synod as his temporary members. Once discussed and approved this recommendation, Church Council of the Bulgarian Orthodox Old Calendar Church unanimously Managing pontiff to address the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, His Eminence Metropolitan Agafangel asking Synod of Bishops of the Church Abroad to bless two prelates from the staff to be co-opted for the formation of the Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Old Calendar Church with the status of his temporary members. Metropolitan Agafangel and bishops of the ROCOR Synod responded positively to the call of our country and our application proved selfless brotherly support. By decree of His Grace Bishop Photios № 0001 of 18 December (December 5th st. St.) In 2014 and pursuant to Decision № 5 of 6 November (October 24, st. Another sad news from the orthodox world. With this step this man “Photios”(I am sorry but I can not call him bishop as I do not believe he is) shows the only thing he wants is to remain at his old place of archibishop of the Bulgarian Church. Until this moment (nearly one year passed) he did not showed he thinks as an orthodox. Everything he is doing is politics, diplomatic steps and combinations but nothing common with orthodox behaviour. Nearly one year the members of the true Orthodox Church in Bulgaria (GOH Kallinikos) are waiting for an official meeting with him to be resolved the true and real problems which have to resolved before any kind of spiritual communion to be possible. We hope the Holy Synode of The True Orthodox Church in Greece will not leave their true spiritual children in Bulgaria and they will do the best for the true orthodox people in Bulgaria.

You can always go under Bishop Akakej (RTOC). GOC-K has too many unanswered questions about crypto ecumenism and it affiliaiton with the cyprianites. RTOC seems like a good fit.

Ioanna mon.

Who is Bishop Akakii? May be you mean f.Akakie from Serbia? And you are speaking seriously?

Fr George

Do you have a better option? let’s see GOC-K who is in communion with P Ireneaous or RTOC who was indorsed by the GOC-K as the rightful russian synod, yes even before they joined ROCOR-A.

Daniel Smith

There are always the Matthewites…

RTOC is Bishop Tichon of Omsk and then you have Bp. Stefan
in Trenton NJ.

Anastasios Hudson

Every question was answered repeatedly, but some people just do not like the answers…

Interesting term “crypto-ecumenism,” like Cyprianite doctrine of ecumenism being an “illness!” My question to that is, well, what illness? A cold, a flu or terminal brain cancer? There is a difference. Not all “illnesses” are alike.

Things are crazy out there. Few years ago when I was searching for true orthodox church, I was told: Synod in Resistance and Metropolitan Agafangel are out of question. I evaluated reasons and did not choose any of these options, GOC-K was the choice. Even at GOC-K at that time everyone would say these two churches are not good. Then union happened, and silence with it. Thought came to my mind, what happened in the meantime? Just few month ago if I came to GOC-K from any of these churches I would be chrysmated. After union many questions were asked, many articles written, some are opposing this union, some are embracing it. I had doubts too, and finally decided, as long as someone is not teaching any heresy that might compromise my salvation, I will not torture myself with so many question and waste my time. If this bishop Photios is recognized by GOC-K, stick with him, do not search for other options, because you will not find anything better. We all think somewhere else will be different, because grass is always greener at the other side. We live at the end times, and things could be only worse.

Regarding teachings, we saw in the former cyprianite community in England, a mixed marriage performed there between an orthodox and a non-orthodox along with a statement in their online magazine saying that the martyrs of the Moscow Patriarchate were true martyrs (sic).

Christ is born! I understand and I am aware of these things. I meet people who are going to official churches and true orthodox churches. Perhaps clergy is aware of these things, but they will not admit it. I am getting tired of everything. God knows who were martyrs at that time. Just remember that ROCOR was in communion with Serbian Church and Serbian Church was in communion with Moscow Patriarchate. Also Greek old calendar church was in communion with ROCOR, without which they would not have the church, and again ROCOR was in communion with Serbian Church and Serbian Church was in communion with Greek new calendar church. Complicated.Things have not been black and white for the past 100 years, but gray.

I am not searching for any options. I have no doubts about GOC – K. And “Photios” is not yet recognized by our Synod. I just see that the all the things he is doing are not in orthodox spirit and I hope his plans will not happen. God will not leave us. And the Synod also – I hope.

What is the big deal with Bishop Photios? You embraced the Greek Cyprianites already, another one won’t harm you at all. 🙂

HmkEnoch

What exactly is he doing that is causing problems? What specifically?

Kaloyan Ivanov

I believe Bishop Photios doesn’t want to be in the same Church along with an abbot Cassian, who was deposed by him (when they were together) for beating his monks 6-7 years ago. Now Cassian is in the GOC-K.

orthodox

“Photios” has ordained Cyprian The Second(The Chairman of the Cyprianite’s Enterprise today)! Hence, your GOC – K already has recognized “Photios” by the union with the Cyprianites. Still no doubts?
