True Orthodoxy in Greece

The Transfiguration Monastery in Kouvaras, Attica, celebrated its Patronal feast with a grand concelebration according to the Athonite typicon, led by Abp Nicholas of Athens.

The All-Night Vigil was celebrated according to the typical use of the Holy Mountain, and was headed by Metropolitan Andreas of Thebes and Livadia, and Bp Lazarus of Amathus. Matins was presided over by Abbot Stephen.

The Divine Liturgy was headed by Archbishop Nicholas of Athens, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Piraeus and a number of priests, including the abbot. The brilliance of the liturgy was noticeable, and to the 70 or so male participants (women are not allowed at the monastery, due to Athonite custom) appeared brighter than previous years.

After the liturgy, those in attendance took part in a festal dinner.
