True Orthodoxy in Russia

Today marks the anniversary of the death of Archbishop Lazarus (Zhurbenko) of the Russian True Orthodox Church, a part of the Free Russian Church that returned to ROCOR’s communion and then departed in 2001 to join the Synod of Metropolitan Vitaly. Archbishop Lazar of Tambov and Odessa was the oldest hierarch in terms of ordination for the Free Russian Orthodox Church, ROCOR’s restoration of a canonical hierarchy for Russia.
