A publishing house run by the Russian Orthodox Church has released a 2014 calendar devoted to Josef Stalin, unleashing a flurry of indignation among Russian bloggers and a discussion about the Church’s ties to the former Soviet dictator.

The calendar, published by the Moscow-based patriarchal printing house of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius monastery, presents pictures of Stalin, accompanied by excerpts from his biography. The photographs show Stalin gradually ageing as the months roll on — from a young man on the January page to a gray-haired Soviet leader in December.

The calendar, on sale for 200 rubles ($6), “would be an excellent gift for veterans and history buffs,” according to the website of Dostoinstvo publishing house.

This calendar was not printed with the blessing of the Moscow Patriarchate. The calendar was ordered by a third party in May 2013. It was printed and shipped to the customer in July. Soon after that CEO of the printing house was dismissed for that by the monastery.

The article has a historian commenting on the non-apostolic succession of the moscow patriarchate. The comment is as follows:

Mikhail Babkin , a historian of religion :

It turns out that the Russian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate denies pre-Revolutionary Church . This suggests that the ROC has no legal succession to the pre-revolutionary church, so Stalin – their founder . Otherwise, where did the new church , which itself does not recognize the legal basis of its predecessor ? This church calendar is not talking about the fact that Stalin is good and that he a father to them .”

What Pat. Kiril of the MP really think of the ROCOR which they have enslaved:

http://www.roacusa.org/htdocs/KyrillLetter.html

What is Kirill’s opinion of Stalin? Well:

“We confirm the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox
Church-Moscow Patriarchate which excommunicated from our Church the
false Metropolitan Anastasy and the schismatics of the ROCA during the
years of the holy war [WWII] of the Soviet people under the leadership of our great Orthodox leader, Joseph Stalin, against the fascist enslavers.”

So Stalin was a great Orthodox leader according to the MP patriarch?
And the Soviet Atheist government was really waging an holy war? Of
course, this explains why they are printing Stalin calendars.
