The funeral for Metropolitan Cyprian (Kutsumbas) of the Greek Synod in Resistance, which is being held on Saturday, June 1 (NS), 2013, in Greece, will be attended by His Grace Sophronii, Archbishop of St. Petersburg and the Russian North, the ruling bishop of the St. Petersburg diocese, he will travel with other members of the delegation as a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
Metropolitan Cyprian caused great damage and confused a lot of people. He is not in paradise today, for he died in heresy, schism (was deposed twice) and outside the Church. His whole synod was built on a violation of the canons.
Why do they show respect for some just because he is a bishop (a heretic in this case)? But how many of these clergy would attend the funeral of a homeless Orthodox Christian? These people esteem the rich, wealthy and “powerful.” This is contrary to the message of Christ.
