Dear Rustam Nurgalievich! Dear participants of the celebrations! Brothers and sisters! I heartily congratulate all of you on the significant anniversary – the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria. For the inhabitants of the ancient state that once existed in the wide expanses of the Middle Volga region, this historical event became an important factor in unity and contributed to the formation of a vibrant original culture. Deep respect for the memory and spiritual heritage of ancestors, common moral values, centuries-old relations of good neighborliness and brotherhood that connect representatives of different nationalities and religious traditions who have long lived on these lands – this is the true wealth of our country, a guarantee of prosperity and harmonious development of society. I am glad to testify that a fruitful interaction has developed between the Muslim Ummah of Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church, aimed at strengthening traditional foundations and affirming high moral ideals in the minds of compatriots. I would like to note with gratitude the great personal contribution of the leadership of Tatarstan to the development of these good relations, special attention to the issues of interethnic and interreligious harmony in the region, as well as care for the Orthodox inhabitants of the Republic and support for the initiatives of the Tatarstan Metropolis, which have a spiritual, moral and educational value. I wish all the participants of the current celebrations good health, peace of mind, the help of the Most High God and blessed success in their work. +KIRILL, PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
