NFTU: The Armenian Church rejects the God-Inspired 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th, Ecumenical Councils and is thus under anathema. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is noted for his celebration of heretical churches, especially his acknowledgment of the heretical Vatican as a church, not to mention the above mentioned Monophysite bodies. The Antiochian Patriarchate, along with the Alexandrian Patriarchate, have for over 20 years had official communion agreements with the Monophysite Coptic and Syro-Jacobite churches. Patriarch Bartholomew has also generated controversy on the subjects of the ecumenical heresy, but also on his teachings concerning the unity of all religions, abortion rights, celebration of Islam, and globalism. Traditional, or True, Orthodox Christians have refused to have any communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and connected bodies, due to his heretical teachings. Most noticeably the Athonite monastery of Holy Ascension (Esphigmenou), which has been subject to violent persecution by the Ecumenical Patriarchate because it refuses to accept his teachings (several monks have been killed, starved and injured; currently the monastery is under a siege for the past several years, a siege conducted by Greek police under the orders of the Ecumenical Patriarchate).
