ROCOR-A: Abp Andronik in Australia
Hat tip to R.D. and M.A. for this story.
This comes from Protodeacon Basil Yakimov of ROCOR-A. It appears that there is a good deal of activity in Australia!
(Source: Protodeacon Basil Yakimov- ROCOR-A) His Grace Archbishop Andronik (Kotliaroff) visited our Yarraville Church of the Holy Martyrs of Vilnius (ROCA-A) and served here for three weeks.
Vladika arrived in Melbourne on the 11th August 2009, and stayed with us until the 31st August 2009. During this period we were pleased that Vladika was able to serve on three successive weekends, as well as on the feast days of Holy Transfiguration and the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.
Vladika heard confessions, so his visit provided our parishioners with the opportunity to confess and to partake of the Holy Mysteries. Vladika Archbishop Andronik also, at every opportunity, restated the importance of living in a harmonious and loving church family. Many Years were sung to his Grace Archbishop Andronik following his last Sunday Liturgy when the church was filled to capacity.
Vladika Andronik was well received and at the trapeza in his honour he was warmly thanked and again asked to visit the parish as soon as possible – as he has given spiritual nourishment to all the people of the parish, the parish is growing and so are its needs.
It is hoped Father Andrei (Erastov) will soon be able to return to Australia and his Eminence Metropolitan Agafangel will assign him to be the Rector of our thriving parish.
While Vladika Andronik was in Australia collections were made for the establishment of the diocesan centre and monastic community for the ROCA in North America. To all who have contributed we are most grateful.
