Albanian Archbishop Named WCC Leader

Albanian Orthodox Archbishop Anastasios was named one of the heads of the World Council of Churches last week, according to the Athens News Agency. He has been a member of the World Council since 1994, according to the article. According to its website, “The World Council of Churches (WCC) is the broadest and most inclusive among the many organized expressions of the modern ecumenical movement, a movement whose goal is Christian unity.”

According to the website of the Albanian autocephalous Church, Archbishop Anastasios is fully committed to ecumenism and environmentalism.
