On August 6 (OS / 19 (NS), Bishop Photii of Triaditza, the head of the Bulgarian Old Calendar Orthodox Church (which is currently in the process of communion talks with the GOC-K), along with several clergy and faithful, celebrated the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration.  Photos from the celebration can be found here.

The old calendar church of “so called bishop of Triaditsa Photios” is not a sister church of the old calendar Church of Greece (Archibishop Kallinikos). There are a lot of problems in her “ömologia” to be sold and to be able to become a sister church.

It was my understanding that Bp. Photios is in communion with Abp. Kallinikos. Is this not the case? Abp. Kallinikos is in communion with Met. Agafangel and Met. Vlasie, but, not Bp. Photios?

HermitsOf St-John

Yes Father. Photios had backed out of talks with GOC-K.

In other news, how come we hear nothing about the Orthodox Old Calendar Church of Greece under presidency of Abp. Iakovos?

(In the Florinite line from Auxentios Pastras, Maximos Vallianattos, Auxentios II Marinis, now Abp. Iakovos Giannakis.)

HmkEnoch

Because I don’t know much about them. IF you have any info please share. Do you have any info about Bp. Photios backing out?

HmkEnoch

Wait; is this the Auxentios (Marinis) that began to use the new calendar? Or is that incorrect? Any info would be helpful.

HermitsOf St-John

I asked one of their bishops regarding observance of the Old Calendar. His reply: “We were always following the old calendar we will always do”

Also why are we not in communion with them since we both came from Auxentius.

Does Fr. John (Vasilevski) still believe that economia cannot be used in the reception of Bp. Photios of Triaditsa and his jurisdiction? It does seem a little much to demand that they be all baptized upon joining communion with the GOC-K, especially if they have already received a triple-immersion baptism.

I don’t know but I think he will not change. I believe Fr’.J. wants everything to be canonical. But the problem of Photios is not only the Holy Baptizm. There are and other wrong things. One is ~ he believes that there is Holy Spirit in the official Orthodox Church of Bulgaria.

GOC Greece (Abp. Kallinikos) is not yet in communion with bp. Photios’. There are canonical reasons about that. Also GOC has a parish in Bulgaria established a lot of years ago. And also two monasteries joined before six years. So, there are and some topical problems for bp. Photios.

Thanks. I changed it to ‘is currently in the process of communion talks’ since that seems to be where things have stayed.
