Fresco Fragments Discovered as St. George’s Monastery, Russia

Archaeologists excavating a site around the oldest monastery, St. George’s, in Novgorod, have discovered fragments of frescoes. The monastery is often referred to as “Yuriev Monastery“. According to Lenta.ru, the Russian Institute of Archaeology has conduced the excavations. A cathedral was raised near the monastery in the 12th century; archaeologists believe the fragments are associate with the ancient structure.
