MP Goes Full Steam with Ecumenism: Recent Meetings with the Vatican

Beginning on October 15th, 2012, Met. Hilarion (Alfeyev)of Volokolamsk of the Sergianist Moscow Patriarch, began his meeting with various Papist official of the Vatican.  As many readers know, Patriarch Bartholomew (Archontonis) has himself been recently involved in such matters. The meetings and discussions were, according to the MP website with the “blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill’.

The next day, on October 16th, he met with various prominent Vatican officials about inter-religious dialogue. During such discussion with prominent Romanist prelates, Met. Hilarion spoke about the ‘common witness’ of the MP and the Vatican. As a spring board for much of this ‘common witness’ was the reference to the Sergianist-in-Chief, Kyrill of Moscow, and his signing of common theological documents with the leader of the Polish Papists earlier this year.

But, his busy schedule, on October 17th, included addressing the Papist Synod of Bishops. In his speech he spoke about how the ‘fruitful cooperation within the Catholic-Orthodox Forum’. And the need for the MP and the Vatican to ‘join’ forces. On the same day, Met. Hilarion met with Cardinal Kurt Koch and spoke about the need to continue the joint MP-Vatican theological ‘dialogue’.  The Moscow Patriarchate website states that:

“Attention was paid to the current state of the Orthodox-Catholic theological dialogue in the Joint International Commission for Dialogue between the Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. The two sides also agreed on the usefulness of further cooperation in the field of theological education, in particular, the exchange of students between institutions of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Roman Catholic Church.”

And, of course, the summit of the meeting, so far, has been Met. Hilarion’s meeting with the Pope of the Romanist church, Benedict. During said meeting, the MP representative and the head of Romanism.

Yet, we still hear that the MP has renounced ecumenism?  Does this not indicate it hasn’t? Have their been any outcries in the MP to stop this? Have their been calls for public renunciation?
