MP visits the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Caucasus

Although this event took place in April of 2010 it has just come to my attention and I thought it should be posted as it shows the ecumenical  syncretism with non christian religions within the Mosow patriarchcate
His Holiness was accompanied by Chairman Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Hilarion Volokolamsky, Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Lazar, Archbishop of Astana and Almaty, Alexander, Bishop of Baku and the Caspian Sea Alexander, Head Administrative Secretariat Moscow Patriarchate Bishop Solnechnogorsky Sergius, Chairman Synodal Department for Church and Public Relations Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, Chairman Synod Information Department VR Legoyda.
On the square in front of complex Spiritual Directorate of the Russian Orthodox Church met with Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Caucasus, Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pasha-zade, Muslim clerics, members of the Board of Muslims of the Caucasus, the Baku Islamic University students, members of the upcoming meeting Interreligious Council of CIS.
Patriarch Cyril visited the mosque “Taza-Pir. Here, the Russian Orthodox Church and the Sheik-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pasha-zade exchanged greetings.
Expressing his joy at the opportunity to visit the main mosque in Baku, the Russian Orthodox Church has shared thoughts about what role in the life of the believer is prayer.
Prayer connects us with God, – said, in particular, the Holy Lord. – We have differences in our understanding of God, in our religious life, but we do have in common, and this is a common prayer. A man in prayer calls God’s help, the person in prayer, thinking about God and his life is getting better. “
“It is sometimes asked: how can people live together, which belong to different religions? – Continued primate. – The answer is contained in the remarkable words, which once gave a Christian theologian and ascetic Dorotheus: God – as the sun, from which emanate rays. If a person goes to these rays to God, the closer he becomes to God, the closer – and another man, who also goes to meet God. And if all of humanity will be close with God, then people will be close to one another. “
“That’s why, when we say that religions divide people, we say that this is a lie – believe His Holiness Patriarch. – Religion can distinguish one person from another when this one is far from God when he is not praying, not talking to God, do not feel God. Then it will be far from another person – even those who profess the same religion. “
“The correct arrangement of life is when the center of life – God and when people go to meet God, – said the Russian Orthodox Church. – Then builded whole life around, then in the community to establish peace, respect, love. “
“We arrived at the kind invitation of my brother, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pasha-zade, to here in Baku, together with representatives of different religions think about what is happening today with the world, with human society, to think that we need to do to make the world a better place to left of it conflicts – Patriarch recalled. – It is remarkable that we’re going in Azerbaijan – a country where the correct relationship between people belonging to different religions. Everyone in Azerbaijan has the freedom to express their religious feelings, everyone feels safe under the protection of the state, and I am very glad that the president personally pays very much attention to interfaith relations. Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet your president, to publicly express his gratitude for the high level of inter-religious relations, which exists in Azerbaijan. “
“May God bless the wonderful land of Azerbaijan, its people and all of you, my dear brothers and sisters. Glad to meet you under the arches of the main mosque in Baku “, – concluded the Patriarch Cyril.
Accompanied by Sheikh-ul-Islam’s holy bishop visited the library of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Caucasus. As told by His Holiness the library director, doctor of historical sciences, professor Anar Iskenderov, in the collection are kept 6,000 books, including the unique manuscript of the Quran and religious works, as well as modern editions of works of Muslim theologians. Patriarch Cyril left a note in the book of honorable guests of the library.
