New True Orthodox Theological Institute (GOC-Kallinikos)

A new, distance-learning, theological institute was established as a result of the clergy meeting of the HOTCA under Metropolitan Pavlos of Astoria on August 5 (New Style).

The new theological school, according to its website, was established because “our own Metropolitan Pavlos has often said that a school of theology is one of his greatest desires for our Metropolis. Unfortunately, because of various problems that have plagued our Church during the past few decades, and especially because of Greece’s restrictive laws against founding private universities, our Church in Greece has never been able to realize this long sought after hope. Nevertheless, it has not been forgotten, and due to our recent growth, our Church in America is now in a position to turn dream into reality.”

Indications are that the new institute will seek formal accreditation shortly; and classes and registrants are being accepted immediately for the Fall 2011 semester. The school currently has an Open Admissions policy, and the listed entrance requirement is a High School Diploma.

More information, including course listings, is available on the Institute’s new website at
