Bp Andrei (TOC-R) of Dneprodzerzhinsk and Dnepropetrovsk (1936-2012)
(Source: Official Website) Yesterday, at 76 year of age, Bishop Andrew (Gavrilov), the ruling bishop of Dneprodzerzhinsk – Dnepropetrovsk diocese of True Orthodox Church in Ukraine (a Metropolitan Synod under the TOC-R consisting of seven Bishops) reposed April 22, 2012 at 4:00 PM, from a heart attack.
Bishop Andrew (Valentin Gavrilov) was born May 11, 1936 in Kharkov (Ukraine) into a family of servants. In 1953 he graduated from the Suvorov Military School, and in 1965 – VOSO. In 1996 he was ordained a deacon and in 1997 – a priest. In 2009 he was tonsured a monk by Matthew Bishop (Maistrenko).
January 24, 2010 at the Divine Liturgy in the church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist – St. John – the Baptist Monastery Holy stavropigialny Raphael (Motovilov), assisted by the Council of Bishops (14 bishops) – consecrated Bishop of Krivoy Rog, Dnepropetrovsk vicar of the diocese.
On September 27, 2010 Bishop Andrew (Gavrilov) was appointed Ruling Bishop of the diocese with the rank of Bishop of Dneprodzerzhinsk and Dnepropetrovsk by the Holy Synod of the TOC-R.
The funeral of His Eminence Bishop Andrew will be held April 25, 2012 in Dnepropetrovsk.
