The grace of God, we gathered 28 October 2014 in the God-preserved Epiphany Monastery, adopted a ” Message from the clergy and laity of the Russian parishes ROCOR to all indifferent to the fate of the Russian Orthodox Church . “

Then our words were dictated by a deep sense of sorrow and obezpokoennosti for the future of our Church, as the Met. Agafangel started on the path neosergianstva and apostasy. Unheard of happened: the man who proudly calls himself the First Hierarch of ROCOR, not only supported the revolutionary anti-Russian revolution in Ukraine, but also completely took the position ukronatsistskoy side to the fratricidal conflict. In the most difficult days of the civil war in Ukraine, the main site of the Russian Orthodox Church led by Metropolitan. Agafangel was transformed into an instrument of Russophobia, combating defamation of historical Russia and those who disagree with it.Some terrible sins Met. Agafangel led to his other crimes against our Church.

Outstanding (as in prepared for the Arch. Cathedral Archbishop text. Sophronia ) cited specific facts violation of Metropolitan. Agafangel canonical and moral norms. The apotheosis of lawlessness became punitive Synod 21-22.10.2014g.

Strongly dissociate themselves from these harmful acts Met. Agafangel, however, participants Appeal suggested a way out in the spirit of Christian faith, hope and love: “We apologize to all those who willingly or unwillingly offended by word, deed or some other way. We believe that only in the spirit of Christian love and loyalty great fathers and ROCOR Council will be able to overcome all temptations and challenges of our troubled times. We hope understanding fellow hierarchs, pastors, laity, both in Russia and abroad and support our actions. Let us take comfort in the apostolic appeal: “Not slothful, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord, rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing instant in prayer” (Rom. 12:11). “

Funny how criticizing russian policies is somehow anti-orthodox. These bishops are heretics, they are phyletists, identifying the russian nation with the church.

Andreas P

Ha ha!!! This is pot calling the kettle black…

GOC-K is the most phyletistic Church in the world….”there are 2 kinds of people in this world, Greeks and everyone who wishes they were greek”….AB Kallinikos is the most guilty of this….I wonder why your own fIrst Hierarch in the US (Metro. Demetrios) stopped calling himself Macedonian (not greek) when he joined the GOC-K…..

Daniel Smith

Yeah, that isn’t the same thing at all. There is a difference between national pride and saying that Disapproving of Russian Policy is unorthodox. You are just slandering now. What I said was based on their own words. If you have an accusation, prove it or demonstrate it. It is demonstrable that the schismatic bishops are phyletistic russophiles because they put agreement with state policy on par with Orthodoxy.

Funny, didn’t someone do that once? Oh yeah, Metropolitan Sergius!

Andreas P

On 10 August 1872 the Synod (Constantinople) issued an official condemnation of ecclesiastical racism, or “ethno-phyletism,” as well as its theological argumentation:
We renounce, censure and condemn racism, that is racial discrimination, ethnic feuds, hatreds and dissensions within the Church of Christ, as contrary to the teaching of the Gospel and the holy canons of our blessed fathers which “support the holy Church and the entire Christian world, embellish it and lead it to divine godliness.”
This is what AB Kallinikos wrote:
“Themata Pisteos: Orthodoxoi kai Ellines”, volume 1, nos. 4-5, July-October, 1994: the Slavs – unlike the Greeks, who believe “first in Christ, then in Greece” – believe “first in their fatherland, and afterwards in Christ”. And so, he continues, the Slavic peoples “… have used Orthodoxy as a means for the realization of their national interests. This means that they were never good Orthodox… Such are the various people of Slavic descent, as are, above all, the Russians” (pp. 57-58, 60).
Let’s ignore all the Russian saints and use a wide brush………
With Respect to Bishop Demetrios, I grew up with him and had many arguments about how he is Macedonian (not greek) and that the Greeks persecuted his family. He identifies as being Slavic and Not Greek (or at least he did until he joined the Phyletist GOC). Ask him about his visits to see Archbishop Stephan in Ochrid.

Daniel Smith

Yeah, that is nice, but irrelevant. It does not make your point at all. The point is that these two bishops have put the “good” of Russia ahead of being Orthodox and therefore identify any attack on Russia as an attack on Orthodoxy. This is the heresy of phyletism, and these schismatics are phyletists. The end. This is not a contest, it is just the way things are.
