While Patriarch Kirill Visits, Israel Fires at Syria after Weekend Skirmish in Gaza

While Kirill of Moscow was busy on his visit to Israel to meet with Patriarch Ireneos, Israel confirmed Sunday morning it fired at Syria after a mortar shell hit its northern region coming from Syria. Israel fired warning shots back into Syria, according to Bloomberg News.

While Russia’s ties with President Bashir Assad have generally been positive, the action of the Israelis during the Patriarch’s visit may indicate that the Syrian leader may finally be considered a liability.

Syria has been under fire from a rebellion supported by the US and European leaders. Numerous Christian villages supporting Assad have been decimated.

Nothing to see here, folks… nothing at all.

(source: Haberler) The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, who arrived in Jerusalem on Friday, was accompanied by a solemn procession of clerics and laypeople on his way from the Jaffa Gate to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre inside the Old City.

Thousands of believers gathered in front of the church, which is the holiest site for Christians across the world, to greet Patriarch Kirill and Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III, who met him. The two patriarchs held a short divine service.

I don’t know what Patriarch Kirill could possibly be thinking by visiting with these enemies of Christ. I shake my head in bewilderment. How many times does the Patriarch have to hear about the obscene maltreatment of Palestians – Moslem AND CHRISTIAN – by the Israelis before he realizes that he is hob-nobbing with villains? How many times to Catholic and Orthodox prelates have to be spat upon by Jewish rabbis and citizens before Patriarch Kirill will begin to realize the type of people he is dealing with?

I am astonished and disappointed that he should be meeting with these people. Diplomacy is one thing; smiling and making merry with Christ’s enemies is quite another.

Maybe because he is an enemy of Christ?
