Myrrh Steaming Icon at the Lazzaretto

Press Release (ihtis.wordpress.com) Our Church confirms that on 18 and 19 April (Sunday and Monday) an icon of the Mother of God written by a Bulgarian monk, located in our church of St. Nicholas and Ambrose, began to weep. The phenomenon was observed by many faithful as well as Byzantine Coptic Eritreans, as well as our Metropolitan Evloghios, Vicar Bishop Abbondio vicar and the priests present. The same icon already had wept two years ago. Then, as now, it was decided not to advertise the event, so that the faith of the people were not influenced by yet unexplained phenomena that can, if unchecked, create expectations or behavior that does not necessarily favor people’s spiritual growth. Our Church restricts itself to confirming the truth of the event (whatever the cause) and that was accompanied by a strong scent of roses, not previously present in the church and cloister area.
