(source) In the last months of the year people began to actively discuss the theme of “End of the World” and “Apocalypse”, which, according to the Mayan calendar supposedly, in the opinion of some researchers, “come December 21, 2012, when the world will have to cease to exist … “. And the issue has become so urgent in the present days on television, radio and in print media of the world, including in Russia, which has overshadowed him all the Light of Christ’s teaching and the majority of people, including and Christians, cease to glorify “God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1Kor.6, 20) and forget the words sv.Apostola Paul’s worship of God: “And so I beseech you, brethren, by the mercies of God, present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,the wise your spiritual worship “(Romans 12, 1), for we are all one with God and God created, as well as all our visible universe, because” all over him; and without him was not any thing made that was made “(In.1, 3).

For reasons they distinguish the apocalypse:

– Space;

– Astronomical;

– Geological and climate;

– Man-made;

– Militaristic;

– Anthropic (internal).

And the consequences for humanity distinguished:

– Total and permanent disappearance of human civilization, when essentially impossible any reproduction of the human species (for example, by the death of the universe as a whole, or the absorption of the solar system by the black hole);

– Total destruction of mankind in principle the possibility of reproduction in the future;

– The death of the majority of people, followed by a post-apocalyptic phase, which changed the basic definitions and standards of the species for the small number of survivors;

– The death of a significant number of people with post-apocalyptic phase, in which the conditions of survival in a more or less difficult;

– The transformation of humanity into a qualitatively different kind of community in the process of a global catastrophe: artificial intelligence, nanobots, genetic transformation, etc. (according to some online sources).

And these scientists and draw possible apocalyptic future mankind manifold and ask ourselves, “What is more exciting situation for human thought: understanding and analysis of some specific catastrophic scenarios, or the realization that we simply do not know many other apocalyptic possibilities and outcomes? ‘. These arguments and the arguments they sow in the minds of people living in the modern times of apostasy, the decline of spirituality, aggression and destruction of the best moral values of humanity, an increase in suicides, the food crisis in some locations in preparation for the “end of the world” (mass buying products “essentials”) and more.

What is the Apocalypse? It is the revelation of St. John the Evangelist – the last book of the New Testament of the Bible, often also referred to as the Apocalypse (from the Greek. – “Disclosure”, “revelation”). In the Book of Revelation describes the events that occur before the second coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ to the earth “… and come again with glory to judge the living and the dead …” – as we read in the Creed. This ancient faith of the Church is based on the repeated promises of the Lord and the testimony of His apostles. In this case, the Lord associates with the second coming of “the last day” (In.6 ,39-40) or the “end of the age” (Mf.13, 39), that is the end of the now existing in the world. Clearly, all that started in time, in the same time and should end in. The psalmist in connection with this increase on the Creator of all things visible and invisible, and variability of creation: “In the beginning you founded the earth, and the heavens – the work of thy hands: they shall perish, but thou shalt endure: and they all shall wax old like a robe, and like clothing , thou change them – and change, but you – the same, and thy years shall have no end “(Ps.101 ,26-28). Therefore the end of the world is not its destruction, but to change and update true, when “ignite heaven dissolved, and the elements will melt” (2Pet.3, 12) and will open a “new heaven and a new earth in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter .3,13; Otkr.21, 1).

Time and the hour of the Second Coming of the Son of man is hidden from us, but traces of it are open to us in the Gospels, Epistles, Revelation of St. John the Evangelist. So, the Lord Jesus Christ says that before his coming “will be preached the gospel of the kingdom … the whole world as a testimony to all nations” (Mf.24, 14). He also points out that “many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many, and because lawlessness, many love will grow cold” (Mf.24 ,11-12). To many false teachers, and the impoverishment of faith and a strong decline of morals in the end times also points sv.Apostol Paul (1Tim.4 ,1-3 ,1-2Tim.3 5). Now the Lord Jesus said, as if asking, “But the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (Lk.18, 8).

The Gospel also tells us about the appearance before the Second Coming of Christ – the Antichrist, “the man of sin … who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or is worshiped, so that in the temple of God, he sits as God, proclaiming himself to be God” (2 Thess .2,3-4 cf. Rev.13 ,7-8, 15). This phenomenon is the Antichrist will be associated with deviations from the true faith (2Fes.2, 3).

And finally, come suddenly, “Son of Man comes in glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward every man according to his works” (Mf.16, 27).His second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ compares to lightning, “comes from the east, and shineth even unto the west” (Mf.24, 27). And if the first coming into the world was the incarnate Son of God in humility, when He, “taking the form of a servant … he humbled himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross” (Phil.2 ,7-8), but now he will come “in His glory, and all the holy angels with him “(Mf.25, 31). This will be the coming of the Lord of Glory – Judge of the universe, of all things visible and invisible.

This is the faith the fullness of our True Orthodox Church, called to preach the gospel to the world the Gospel of Christ, and is considered mandatory incessant preaching of the Scriptures of the New Testament and the Apocalypse, to prepare God’s people for the very great trial, which was the creation of the world, and that will come suddenly, “as thief in the night “(1Fes.5 ,1-2) and the opposing retreat and mystery of iniquity, which acts to drop the man of sin, the son of perdition (2Fes.2 ,3-13).
