News Release from the Romanian Vicarate of RusOCNo.01 Date 21-05/22-06/2012Yes on 21 May / June 3, 2012,
-The Romanian Orthodox Vicariate now falls under the canonical oversight of His Eminence Victor (Pivovarova), Archbishop of Slavei and South Russia.Archbishop Victor (Pivovarova) is the leading member of the ROCOR-V from the date of 4/17 December 2003, when he was ordained priest by the Holy Synod chaired by the late Metropolitan Vitaly (Ustinov).Decision of the ROCOR-(V) – Romanian Orthodox Vicariate to make the canonical transition under the oversight of Archbishop Victor (Pivovarova) was taken after long and intense dialogue on ecclesiological positions of ROCOR(V) – Romanian Orthodox Vicariate, and Archbishop Victor.Since the two parts of ROCOR(V) testify in the same spirit as regards all dogmas, the Holy Canons and Tradition of the Church of Christ, the unity of ROCOR(V) should be recovered with a return to its original rule left by Metropolitan Vitaly (Ustinov).Following this decision, ROCOR(V) – Romanian Orthodox Vicariate, will have the following duties to Archbishop Victor:1. All services will commemorate “His Eminence Victor, Archbishop of Slavei and South Russia”;2. Any activity of the clergy will be held in accordance with the agreement and blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Victor (written or verbal);3. Ordinations of clergy, monastic tonsure and consecration of new churches will be done with the consent of Archbishop Victor (Pivovarova). The decision was taken according to consulting clergy of the Romanian Orthodox Vicariate of ROCOR(V), which submit with one accord, keeping the unity and Confession of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
